UPDATE nov 24th 2020: v2 design
I made a new version of the bird feeder, with a deeper cup (avoid spilling seeds). The cap part was also updated so download the v2 files to have the most recent version that fits perfectly. Assembly instructions are the same as the original version.
I am lucky enough to have a little garden with a bunch of trees. I enjoy it and I also like the idea that some wildlife can enjoy it too.
I already hanged a little birdhouse on a pine tree several years ago and small birds nest inside which makes me very happy.
I wanted to provide birds with food during cold seasons and so I looked for a diy way to make some kind of seeds distributor.
I found a lot of nice designs in Thingiverse but decided to make mine, to improve my parametric skills on Fusion 360 and also to add some features I did not find anywhere.
So here are the main features of my design:
Printer Brand:
Prusa
Printer:
I3 MK3S
Rafts:
No
Supports:
No
Resolution:
0.15
Infill:
15%
Black
Notes:
I chose PETG for three reasons:
1) it's durable in outdoor conditions since it's waterproof and can stand high and low temperatures.
2) it's more ductile Thant PLA, less brittle, meaning it won't break easily.
3) PETG is PET so it's food-safe and presents little to no risk of intoxication for animals in my comprehension.

Assembly
Cut the bottom of the bottle with an exact knife.
Screw the bottleneck in the cup part.
Slide a nylon-like thread in one of the holes on the side of the cup. Make a knot below the cup.
Insert the thread in one of the holes of the cap, from below and then in the other one, from the top face this time.
The thread now goes to the opposite hole of the cup part. Tie an other knot and you're done.
Just hang it on the branch of a tree.
