Description

I chuckled the first time I opened a LED Lamp Kit box. I pulled the light out of the box, looked at it and thought to myself “they sent me a repulsor kit instead of a lamp kit”. I knew right then and there what I was going to make, an Iron Man repulsor flashlight. I wanted to be able to turn the light on and off easily without having to use my other arm to press a button so I designed a switch that is easily turned on and off with a flick of the wrist as seen in the video below.

One thing I recently learned from my Sunglasses model is that when I model wearables, they're not going to work for most people because they're modelled to fit me. The Sunglasses will likely just fall off your head because they're modelled to fit my fat head. I feel like this flashlight will be the same way as it's modelled to fit the forearm of a 42 year year old who has done a total of three push-ups in his entire life. Because of this, I'm uploading .step files for every piece with the hope that you can customize the fit as needed using your favourite flavor of CAD program.

This is still a work in progress so I'll be adding notes as they come to me.

ASSEMBLY:

Arm 1 and 2 as well as the covers for each piece snap together via the hinges.

The hand is fairly easy to assemble and should only take a minute or two.

The first thing you need to do is set the lamp kit into Hand 1.

Then take Hand 2, insert it into Hand 3 and then into Hand 1 as seen below. Make sure you have the orientation of Hand 2 correct before connecting it to Hand 3. The wider opening of Hand 2 needs to be facing the cord as seen below.

Next, you can attach Hand 5 to the end of Hand 1 as seen below.

Once you have the hand together, pass it through the opening on the front of Arm 1.

Now slide Hand 4 onto the cord and all the way up to the switch. You'll notice that Hand 4 has a slot on one side. We want that slot to be on the opposite side of the button when you slide Hand 4 over the switch as seen below.

Next, take Hand 4/the switch and place it into Arm 1 as seen below. As you're placing Hand 4 into position, slide the disc from Hand 5 into the slot on Hand 4. This will connect the hand to the switch and every time the hand is pulled forward, it will turn the light on or off.

After you have the switch sorted, take the cord and feed it through the hole at the back of Arm 1.

The last thing to do is connect the power bank and insert it into Arm 2

The locks snap into Arm 1 and then swivel to clamp down over the bars on Arm 2.
