Description

Hey Guys!

I just finished my new car bin that hooks to your headrest.

I used 4 magnets in total (12mm/ 1/2inch wide and 1.6mm high) that makes it easier to use, negates noise and improves the “one hand use” capabilities.

The bin is slided on a hook, that hooks onto your headrest.

The hook can also be used to hang bags etc from if you currently don't need the bin for one of your trips :)

More hook attachements will come in the future!

No support needed!

Print as is!

Printable on the A1 mini!

Printing with PETG, ABS etc. may be beneficial due to the upcoming summer months.

You need:

1x Bin

1x Hook

1x Lid

4x Magnets (12mm/ 1/2inch wide and 1.6mm high)

Small pieces of filament

Assembly:

  1. glue the magnets in the corresponding holes (check for polarity!)
  2. Insert a piece of filament through each of the 2 hinge, heat it with a lighter and then press it flat against the hinge
  3. Insert the hook in the back of bin

You are now a proud owner of the Car Bin 9000! :)

PS: I made some quality of life changes on the models you can download. The car bin in the pictures was a working prototype that i currently use! All changes have been test printed so don't worry :)

Printed on a carbon fiber plate with CF-PLA, then did a magnet hole delete and created a cap. Used another model on here for the badge and scaled it to fit. Used metal rods for the hinges

I have to admit, I love the look of your print! I am a big porsche fan myself ^^ Any reccomendations on how to improve the models? For Example provide a bin without the cutout to use as a desktop bin?

No recommendations right now. Still trying to figure out how I am going to attach it to the back of my Porsche seat. LOL

Using this to minimize car clutter. I printed in ASA; it was my first time using the material. printed on the my P1S without issue using the stock Polyterra ASA profile. I may install magnets later but I’m satisfied with the bin as is!

Great design, very useful. It would be 110% more useful if you can add some clips to hang it to the inside of the door or to the lip of the pockets behind the car seats.

I'd love to hear more :) Just thinking about how I can design it, so the magnet can still hold it in the "open" position without it hanging to low. I'll send you a note if I managed to think of something :) !

if you search for car trash bin you can find a design close to your model, however it only has the clips for the door pockets. Of course they don't fit your model, i like the design of your lid better, hence my previous comment ;)

Hi 🙂Thanks for the model. Where can I buy the 12mm x 1.6mm magnets? I’m having trouble finding them on Amazon, Home Depot, and local craft stores’ websites.

Hey Tyler! That's actually a great question xD. I made the model with magnets in mind I already owned. Just checked and it actually says 2mm on the package (even though my calipers say they are 1.6mm). You can either try to use 12mm x 2mm Magnets where you'll maybe have them stick out about 0.4mm, or you use 12mm x 1mm magnets (they are, if I am not mistaken, a bit weaker). If you choose the second option please let me know, then I'll upload a corresponding model!
