Description

With the arrival of spring, new weather and the outdoors becoming friendly again, it's time to go outside and enjoy nature. Several activities are available to us, including taking care of our plants that just need to be replanted. This is why we wanted to recreate a link between users and their plants by creating a project that harmonizes light and nature. So, the goal of the project was to create a plant support that would integrate ambient light to combine the useful with the pleasant.

Our approach for this project was to create a floor lamp that could be placed in any environment and harmonize with any aesthetic. In addition, we wanted it to be easily splittable so it could be used as a lamp and as a plant pot separately.

We set out on an ideation basis by the sketch to look for different type of shape, positioning of the main elements and also desired textures.

After finding the basic elements that most interpelated us, we began to think about the technical aspects of the product such as the types of lights wanted, their dimension, the overall dimensions, how the plants would be watered and other details.

During the process, choices were made and which were tested to prove ineffective. This is why some modifications were made to make the product better.

Meet SplitPlant, the illuminated plant pot

With its organic and linear aesthetic, it blends easily with all possible environments to become a work of art. Being separated into 3 sections, it can be customized to your taste according to all possible color combinations. Can accommodate up to 4L pots, you will have a wide choice of plant to use with it. Speaking of plants, SplitPlant has 2 side slots for watering plants without having to disassemble it.

Parts needed

For the light source, the SplitPlant has been designed to be able to use puck light of all kinds.

other similar puck light can be used (do not exceed 3.5in diameter)

V2 enhancement

For the next release, we will adjust the dimensions of SplitPlant so that the lower part is narrower, because currently it's 1in thick. So by decreasing the thickness, the part takes less filament while remaining as resistant. In addition, it would be interesting to integrate the junction pieces in the upper part to have only 2 pieces in total.
