Description

A special thank you to Instagram user @cemetery_wildlife for your amazing photos! I used one as a strong reference for this.

A geometric art piece depicting a crow holding a rose in it's beak, perched on a crescent moon. Made largely of triangles.

I figured what better thing to make for this contest - considering it's floral, the birds are now out again, and many of us recently experienced a solar eclipse (although the shape in my model is meant to resemble the moon, not the sun).

I designed this to be printable with separate parts for the lines and each color, although I've also included a stronger, more convenient multicolor (single part) print version too. I recommend the single part version if you have an AMS or similar. I've even included a versions without the 5th color, so that you can let it print without doing manual swaps if your machine only has access to 4 filaments at a time (like mine). For the multi-part version, you can just slot the pieces in place and use a tiny bit of glue to hold them. There is a loop included that you can add to the frame for wall mounting if you wish. My print profiles already have the loop added.

Enjoy!

edit 4/15/2024:

I've updated the multicolor print profile with a new one which is now my preferred way of printing this piece, and updated description to match that. Printing it thinner but in one piece with an AMS makes for stronger print, less material, and a more convenient / hassle-free experience. I did change the geometry for the multicolor version so that the lineart is taller, and so that the lines on the rose are thinner, making for a clearer, less busy look. I also enabled ironing for everything but the lineart, which makes a significantly better result (although takes a couple hours longer). Not only is the surface quality better, but the ironing helps to smudge over some tiny pinholes that were initially present between different colors. The new profiles I recommend also lack a black base, which makes for a nice “stained-glass” type effect when backlit.
