Description

The special thing about this Fidget-Cube in comparison to similar constructions is:

  • there are balls inside the cubes (please do not ask for the deeper meaning, it's a toy)
  • the cubes can be printed individually, in different colors and different materials
  • the cube can be disassembled and repaired, if there were broken hinges

The balls have to be printed first, and then inserted into the cubes during a color change at height of about 16 mm (you do not realy have to change the color, but stop the print in some way).

The individual cubes must be assembled after printing, and the hinges fitting tight and need sometimes a lot of force to put them into place.

In return, you get a colorful toy that is a real hand cuddler due to its rounded edges and corners, and that can also survive or be repaired in a rough fall.

Print instructions

First you have to print 8 Balls, and assemble them. Then you have to print 4 cubes, 4 mirrored cubes and 8 hinges.

I like to print the hinges with PETG, because it is more flexible, but it will work also with PLA. Do not print the hinges together with the rest, because such small parts can get loos from print bed easy.

Fantastic model. It was the hinges that caught my eye first, the balls are just showing off...so badass. My new favorite folding cube model!

I haven’t printed it yet, but I’m looking forward to it. This looks like a lot of fun for a desk toy.
