Description

If you liked this model check out my other ones. Also follow me to keep updated when I post new models, which  I do regularly.

Update 24/4 - 2024: I have updated the print profile the that the small thread on the top should print more easily.

A drip waterer using a standard PET-bottle as water reservoir. The amount of watering can be altered by turning the knob.

We've all seen the PET-bottle plant waterer's. However, this one is adjustable for the current needs of the plant instead of just keeping the entire soil wet at all times. With a small threaded knob on the side of the device the amount of water dripping out of the device can be controlled and also aimed directly at the plant so that no water is wasted, hence it will last longer between refills and work even for plants that like dry spoil, like cactuses.

Assembly and usage:

  1. Insert the part called tap (small part with 3 connections) into the part called base (large part), this will take some force but is necessary for a tight seal. Look at the pictures if needed.
  2. Take the pin (the small pointy thingy) and screw it on the tap.
  3. Fill up a water bottle and attach your new print to it.
  4. Stick the large pointy thing straight down into the soil and make sure it doesn't fall over by itself.
  5. Turn the small knob until the desired amount of water drips out of the tap.

Hi Gustav, great little gadget! Thanks for sharing. When I first printed it, it printed the tap with the threads touching the bed. That messed up the threads and they had to be cleaned up with a file, resulting in a harsh fit. I rotated the tap 90 deg. and put a couple of tree supports for the drip spout. That resulted in a much cleaner print.

Best variant of PET watering solution! A little improvement: the dripping openings are a little bit small, so the air cannot get inside and then its Always dripping very slow, also If you open the "valve" to max... I cutted the Walls and the hole a bit and then it was better.

Okey I see. When I have the time I will make the tap bigger and also add more types of threads to fit other bottles.

Of course! I will upload it straight away. If you do a remix don't forget to mention me. ;) By the way, I'm in Europe too but I noticed that some newer bottles have their own size.

Same issue as tochachi: radius too small for Canadian bottles

Nevermind, I tested it on an Evian bottle, which uses a european size. Works well with CA bottles :) . I wonder if someone has made an adapter for "EU to US" bottles

I could make one for you, however I have no Canadian bottles in Sweden. If you can give me the dimensions for the bottle head I can design a version with that also. I need to know the outer diameter of the thread, the pitch, the thread height and the height of the entire thread.
