Description

Continuing with the kumiko designs here I have designed a simple coaster.

Kumiko, a traditional Japanese woodworking technique, serves as a profound source of inspiration for artisans and designers worldwide. Rooted in centuries-old craftsmanship, Kumiko involves meticulously assembling small wooden pieces to form intricate geometric patterns, creating visually stunning and structurally sound works of art. This technique, characterized by its precision and attention to detail, embodies the essence of Japanese aesthetics and cultural heritage. Beyond its inherent beauty, Kumiko holds deeper significance, symbolizing patience, perseverance, and a deep connection to nature.

Really love the design! Great work! I've played with it a little by making the inner part a little higher and printed with TPU to get a better grip on what's placed on it. And also did an XL version. My settings are: > SUNLU Wood PLA & SUNLU White TPU 95A > preset 0.16mm High Quality // Coaster Base > layer 1-10: TPU > layer 13-16: PLA background color fill > layer 16-top: TPU // Coaster Insert > fuzzy skin point distance: 0.2 > fuzzy skin thickness: 0.2

These came out great. On one of them I put in a filament change at layer 11 so the bottom surface would be the same color as the rim.

both styles of coasters are great, I prefer the solid design for cold drinks, it better contains the moisture from the sweating glass.

Great design. Printed the insert with a 3-color PLA, and the base with a glossy black on my A1 Mini. Added some little rubber feet so it doesn't slide :)
