Description

If you like this, then take a look at the revolutionary Flippy Flapper fidget toy - all print in place with live hinges: https://makerworld.com/en/models/432370

I wanted a herringbone planetary gear spinner that spun as long as possible - and the ones out there didn't quite work well enough for my fidgeting habits. So I used a customised version of this great design but added some texture and weight to the outside while removing weight from the inside gears to get it to spin as long as possible.

Use the including print profile or make sure to add lots of walls as this allows the weight to remain on the outside helping it spin for a long time.

These can be quite tricky to loosen when they come off the plate - I use a monkey grip to hold the middle while I spin the outside. Then adding a tiny drop of lubricant oil helps this spin beautifully!

Yeah I have a lot of requests at my office too. I did just print a bunch and handed them out to kids with autism. There was a fundraiser for the school and I figured this was a good opportunity. They were also a big hit there too and they have a printer so they might be searching for this one in the near future. So know that it is much appreciated!

thanks for the boost! I used the customiser over at thingiverse (link for the original in description). once I had the geometry for the bearing I liked I modified it in Tinkercad adding and subtracting shapes where I wanted to tweak it.
