Description

This model is part of a modular insert for Heroes of Might and Magic 3 the Board Game

This insert:

  • can speed up game setup;
  • places all faction miniatures in one small space (in factory-provided inserts miniatures of the same faction are located in different places or even boxes)
  • takes less space on the table compared to factory inserts;
  • can be placed vertically on the table taking even less space;
  • has a dedicated place for every faction unit and hero (9 miniatures, places marked with Roman numbers I-VII and H for hero)
  • has an easily removable lid attachable with 3x1 neodymium magnets which you can find in a hobby or hardware store
  • can be stored in the main Small/Big box or Rampart/Fortress expansion box with other insert modules

Printing recommendations

  • Box geometry is optimized for FDM printing with a 0,4mm nozzle and 0,2 layer height
  • Supports not required
  • For best results calibrate the dimensional accuracy of your printer and filament

Assembly

Superglue 4 3x1 neodymium magnets in dedicated slots on the box and lid. (Dont mess up polarity ;)

NOTE:

No manufacturing process is perfect. Your specific miniature base can be a bit under/oversized from the factory. As a result, it may have a loose or tight fit. Fortunately, it can be fixed easily. You can use a small piece of sandpaper or a hobby file to enlarge the insert or put a layer of sticky tape to reduce the insert size. Alternatively, you can measure every miniature base size with digital calipers and modify the step file of the box in the CAD of your choice before printing.

Overall, it works very well. I had to shave some models (Cavalier) and others are a bit too loose (griffon/archer). Archer is loose from manufacturing but i accidentally shaved too much on the griffon. I think you could also move things around to really optimize space, however that is a lot of work for anyone to do. Also considering that if you have the grail box, this shouldn't be an issue. I also understand these are meant to fit 4 to a regular box I believe. So it's really just a nitpick. MY only real complaint is that things are squeezed just a bit too tightly for my preference miniature wise. For example, I think you could toss the the swordsman from the top right to the top left, and then move the monk, and 2 heroes further apart to give the heroes some more room for the horses leg against the wall. Overall, I give it a 9/10. I think moving the swordsman and pushing the heroes up would have made it a 10. Note: I haven't printed the lid or installed magnets yet.

This specific placement was chosen to minimize intersections while removing/placing miniatures in their slots during the game. In your suggestion Champions will be blocked by Crusaders. Currently, only Griffins can not be taken without disturbing Archangels. All other miniatures can be taken out/placed without touching another.

You can do it in Bambu studio or another modern slicer: add a primitive cube to the lid, resize it to cover text, and make mesh boolean. Then you can add your text shape
