.3mf file updated 2024-04-10
I think I'm done with this now :)
After 40+ attempts, I've managed to get an almost invisible seam. I just hope these settings carry over nicely to full size prints.
Notable changes that seemed to have a positive effect:
- Increasing the thickness of the walls on the original model to 1.68mm (4 x 0.42mm)
- Using 3 wall loops instead of 2 (This helped remove the zits from the first 5 solid layers touching the build plate).
The actuall walls above that were fine using just 2 wall loops.
- Painting a 45 degree seam, and choosing Seam Position: Random
- Scarf joint flow ratio: 0.8
- Adding a chamfer to the inside corner of the model.
I've uploaded the base model .step file, and a .3mf file from Orca slicer, so that you can see the settings I have used.
I've probably changed way more settings than necessary along the way, so I'm sure there is still room for improvment, but it's looking really good right now.
The model on plate 2 seems to have gotten rid of the final zit, as seen in the third photo (I added chamfer to the inside corner of the model).
The .step file is a cropped section of a model I have been working on, so for me it was a good test for real world use.
