Summary

I downloaded this RC Boat quite awhile ago

…but never finished it because I didn't like the original motor mount. It was supposed to be glued in, but there was very little surface area to glue, and also being a bit of a beginner, I wasn't sure where I wanted to position the motor, and I wanted the ability to change its position easily if I needed or wanted to.

This modified mount corrects these problems. There are some tracks that get glued beside the motor mount on each side, and the motor gets screwed down to your choice of many holes in those tracks. If you decide you want to move it, just unscrew it and choose a different set of holes.

You will need four 6mm M3 screws to attach the mounts to the tracks. They should screw directly in to the plastic tracks and cut their own threads. It was sized perfectly for me, but if they seem too loose or too tight you may need to play with your flow or horizontal expansion settings.

I recommend assembling the mount first, then attach it to the tracks, and then glue it all down as one piece to make sure you get everything aligned properly. Just make sure not to get the glue so close to the vertical pieces that you end up gluing them down as well. Only the tracks should be glued. I used JB Weld.

BONUS: I've included a couple of jigs to help you increase the diameter of the hole in the transom for the drive shaft, as it was much too small for my purposes. There's one for a 6mm hole, and one for a 9mm hole.
