Description

Introducing - The Poozie!

The Poozie is a modular can koozie that is designed to be printed using filament purge. Instead of flushing simply add the poozie ring that matches the height of the model you are printing and enable Flush into this object under the Others tab in Bambu Studio. This will redirect flushed filament into the Poozie ring instead of generating poop. You can add additional rings until you minimize the amount of flushed filament.

I have included rings from 10mm all the way up to 100mm in 5mm increments. There is also a Poozie Complete profile which is contains the top, bottom, and a single 100mm ring in case you just want to print a single solid Poozie.

Through carefully selecting and configuring your Poozie rings you can reduce filament purge all the way down to less than 1g on some models. These are the steps I usually follow when trying to minimize waste:

  • Configure the model that I want to print then preview and look at the flushed column to see how much filament will be purged. If it is an acceptable amount I just print otherwise move on to step 2.
  • Add a Poozie ring corresponding with the height of the model, then set it as a flush target
  • Check the preview again and look at flushed amount. If it's still too high then add more rings until it is acceptable
  • The purge amount can be further refined by adjusting the infill amount and type, but this will increase overall filament used and time to print so you will need to find the best balance for you.

Putting it together

Parts Needed:

  • 1x Poozie Ring Bottom - 14mm
  • 1x Poozie Ring Top - 14mm
  • 12oz Can: Poozie Rings totalling 100mm
  • 16oz Can: Poozie Rings totalling 130mm
  • May work with larger cans with additional rings as long as they have the same diameter

Assemble:

  • Start with the bottom ring.
  • Screw on middle rings up to the height of the can you want to use. This is the fun part where you get to decide how you want to order your rings. Stick to a common color theme or mix and match from many multi-color prints for a full rainbow. It's up to you. No two Poozies will be the same.
  • Lastly, add the top ring to finish your Poozie. Use it yourself or give as a unique gift. Delight in the fact that you have produced less waste and came away with a useful product.
  • You can use a bit of glue between rings to lock in your Poozies style or go without and change it whenever you like.
