Description

I recently printed the amazing Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker lightsabers from the very talented @UnimatrixRed (link below) and wanted to mount them to my wall. There are some designs out there, but I wanted something very minimalist, and I wanted a wallmount that would ensure the lightsabers were far out enough from the wall to not touch it. This is what I came up with.

The screw holes in the mount are designed for 1 inch #6 drywall screws and are counter sunk, making the screws seem to be part of the mount when installed.

I also created a spacer that makes the Darth Vader lightsaber level since the lower part of the hilt has a larger diameter than the upper part. The spacer has the same curve as the stand and fits with a 0.25mm tolerance. It also has a slight curve on the top to let the lightsaber snug into it.

I printed these in black Bambu PLA Basic using 0.2 Standard settings, but added a 4mm outer brim to ensure bed adhesion, and bed-only normal supports for the overhangs.

The stand must be printed in the orientation of the file (bottom down) to ensure strength of the arms. If you print it on it's back the layer lines will be aligned vertically when installed on the wall and will cause the arms to be weak. Any decent amount of pressure on the arms will cause layer separation if the stand is printed on it's back.

I hope you like it and don't forget to post your makes with your lightsabers mounted.

I am curious why only 4 stars. Was there a problem with the print, or the model?
