Description

🇫🇷 Bienvenue à Paris!

Welcome to Paris!

Our Notre-Dame de Paris model has been printed by makers all around the world and made MiniWorld3D very known in the 3D printing community.

As an account dedicated to landmarks and the spread and digital preservation of their historical, artistic, and sentimental value, we felt inspired to create this model after the fire of April 15, 2019 that damaged Notre-Dame.

Notre-Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris) is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité, an island on the river Seine, in the heart of Paris, France. The cathedral is consecrated to the Virgin Mary and considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Its innovative use of the rib vault and flying buttress, its enormous and colorful rose windows, and the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration set it apart from the earlier Romanesque style.

Construction began in 1160 and was largely complete by 1260, though it was modified frequently in the following centuries. In the 1790s, Notre-Dame suffered desecration during the French Revolution; much of its religious imagery was damaged or destroyed. In the 19th century, the cathedral was the site of the coronation of Napoleon I.

Popular interest in the cathedral blossomed soon after the 1831 publication of Victor Hugo's novel known in English as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

Approximately 12 million people visit Notre-Dame annually, making it the most visited monument in Paris.

While undergoing renovation and restoration, the roof of Notre-Dame caught fire on the evening of 15 April 2019. The cathedral sustained serious damage, including the destruction of the spire and most of the lead-covered wooden roof above the stone vaulted ceiling. Funding goals for its restoration were met within hours, the work is expected to be completed in 2024 (from Wikipedia).

This model was originally created by Mexican designers Dany Sánchez and Daniel Muradás.

MiniWorld3D is happy to bring this model to life as a homage to all the people of France. This model was created from scratch by hand and brain in parametric software to ensure printability, using photographs and blueprints to create a beautiful and stylized version of your favorite landmarks. Please give credit, it's all about spreading culture!

Printing Tips

Suggested parameters:

For better details, print slow, such as 20mm/s for outer perimeters.
Fine-tune retraction to avoid stringing.
Perimeters: 2
Top layers: 3
Infill: as low as 12%, halving steps possible (reduces infill by half up until a few layers before a flat roof)

A very detailed model with minuscule features - still printable in FDM though. We made sure it looks good no matter what scale or technology is used.

NO supports needed, the interior and all external overhangs are at 45 degs. or more. Flat overhangs do not exceed 0.3mm.

Contains 4 files:

  1. Façade
  2. Nave
  3. Roof
  4. All parts combined into a single body

You can print the roof in one color, and the rest in another.

These models are also optimized for printing in SLA / resin, as it is hollow and has no thick volumes.
