This is my original idea and design to protect the X1 and P1 series printers during cleaning and maintenance.

Routine cleaning and lubing is vital to maintain your expensive printer, unfortunately isopropyl alcohol and oil can cause your belts to either dry and crack or slip during printing. These belt guards help you avoid costly and time consuming repairs by keeping solvents and lube away from the belts. They cost pennies to print and can save you big headaches.

 

 

This guards are clearly marked X and Y for their respective axis. You will need two X guards as well as one Y guard to complete a maintenance cycle, the download I have provided will have all of the guards you need.

 

I designed these guards to print flat to avoid any wasted filament and avoids having to remove any support material. Simply fold the guards as show in the photo/video. You should only need one Y guard but you can choose to print a duplicate if you like, this is because the right side has the belt above the rail so oils/lubes should not easily drip down.

 

It is important to note that the X axis carbon rods are to be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol and should not be oiled at all.

Strength Issue:the plastic broke quiet quickly. You need to bend them when they are warm
