Description

UPDATE April 2025:

Imagine my surprise when reading through the newsletter from BambuLabs I see my TPU Doggo Ball FEATURED for the new TPU :) I immediately reached out to support and asked very nicely if they would like to send me some of the new 85 TPU so that I could start creating profiles. They agreed and have sent me a roll of 85 TPU and I have been messing around on and off trying to get stable prints.

The Biggest issue I am having is that the filament on the roll self-adheres and so the tension on the roll causes stretching which then causes the filament to not feed correctly and the filament ends up coming out like whispy spider silk. However if I pull a fair amount off the roll and pool it so that there is no tension when extruding the filament I'm getting some really nice results, particularly with this TPU Profile: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1045337-the-perfect-tpu-profile#profileId-1031040

Description:

We have a Newfoundland and she was constantly destroying ball toys we got from the Pet Store and a lot of them are chocking hazards. Big Dogss need Big Balls!

All doggos need a ball, and now you can print one in TPU whenever you need a new one and even resize it for your best girl/boi. I've included multiple named plates for different sized Doggos and for our Newfy girl we use the Large Dog print.

Also included in this is a TPU profile uploaded by florian greco (@floriangreco) over on Printables (https://www.printables.com/model/395685-bambu-lab-x1-x1c-tpu-preset)  that prints a near perfect ball with no supports and absolute minimal droopage.

I created the ball in Blender, exported to OBJ, fixed in MS Builder and exported as STL.

Hey there, thanks for your kind comments. Firstly, as a responsible dog owner, it is YOUR responsibility to SUPERVISE your dog when using ANY toy. Just read the tag attached to any toy you buy in a store, and it says exactly this. I do not encourage or endorse anyone giving any toy to their dog and leaving them unsupervised, let alone anything 3D Printed. And, thanks to your comment, I'll add this discussion to the top of the object description. I wonder if there is a way I can pin your comment as well? Second, TPU is more than up to the task of supervised play that you have with your dog. And, as others have already discovered, if whilst supervising and having a great time with you're Doggos, they're tearing through the ball too easily, take it from them, dispose of it thoughtfully... And print a new one with a higher wall count! That is the beauty of being able to create toys for your dogs, the ability to tailor it to their specific needs.

This toy was designed so that I could have more fun with my dog, playing with her favourite game. I hope you do print it and try it with your dog, and if it's too soft for them, try a higher wall count.

small printed flawlessly! Sadly it was a bit to small for my chihuahua I am afraid of choking hazard. Suggestion is to increase size of small ball a bit it’s to small for most small dogs.

@cynthiascreativ Ohhh excellent suggestion. What size do you find works best for your Chihuahua? I'll scale appropriately, I honestly just guessed at a size.

make it about 1” bigger and it would be perfect size for small dogs.

All dog toys have a warning that they should be used under supervision, this is no exception.
