This model securely attached to the front of the fixed lens hood, allowing you to add a sheet of filter material in front of the lens without obscuring the image. It uses the ridge that the lens cap grips to have a rotatable lock, and has a stop on one side to help with alignment; it does not obscure any of the frame when aligned properly, and fully encloses the area behind the filter to prevent external light from getting in and causing reflections. I designed it for the eclipse so I could attach a solar filter in front, but it would work with any filter material.
- The model needs 4x M3x8mm bolts and 4x M3 nuts to attach the cover onto the adapter body, which sandwiches the filter material between them.
- The filter sheet should be cut to 87mmx119mm (minimum 83mmx115mm) and the corners clipped in ~2mm; use the printed cover as a template
- Print using tree supports, because standard supports will get locked in and be very difficult to remove.
- I used matte black PLA to reduce reflections
