Description

Swappable Blade Calibration+Prime Strip Remover V2

Compatible with OlleMark's Swappable Blades

Now in two sizes:

I discovered that some of you like this scraper so much you reprint one occasionally for a fresh blade, the waste of that has weighed on me, so I've made a V2 with swappable blades.

The blade design is from my own personal favorite scraper: Scraper with Swappable Blades  by OlleMark.

This innovative design lets you re-use the handle and just print new blades taking very little filament and time.

Thanks so much to OlleMark, give them a Boost!

Blade Removal Tool

The optional removal tool makes swapping blades fast and easy. Please use caution when using the removal tool and do not aim the blade at your face or the face of others.

Original Description:

I hate having to remove the build plate from the chamber just to scrape the calibration and prime strips from it, so I came up with this oddball little scraper that's just big enough for those two strips.

Lay it down flat against the plate at the beginning of the triangle part of the calibration strip, and slide it backwards, the strip will pop up in the slot. same with the purge/prime strip, just around a corner lol.

This is the first thing I tried designing in Plasticity as well, so it's only been tested a few times. ideas for improvement are welcome!

V1 - NON-Replaceable Blade
prints great, only gripe is I wish the slope was more angled. it stops and creates a ledge based on printing vertically to reduse need of supports

Thanks so much for this feedback, I'm still learning and want to see what alternative methods could be used to provide both a strong blade and ease of printing, maybe some supports are okay if it lasts longer

hi there, I’ve updated this to V2 and introduced a whole new replaceable blade system based on an existing one - the blades are more refined now printing flat, and when they wear out it’s a tiny amount of filament and time to print new ones vs the whole tool. hope you like it!

hi there, thanks to feedback like yours I’ve redesigned this to use printable replaceable blades that both last longer and are a tiny fraction of the filament and print time as the whole original tool. hope you like it!

Higher Strength - 0.16mm layer, 3 walls, 15% infill
Printed perfectly, but it's not too effective on smooth PEI plates and difficult to get started in the lower left corner

hi there! thanks to feedback like yours I’ve redesigned this both to be easier to fit into the corner, and to use printable replaceable blades that take a fraction of the time and filament as the printing the whole tool, when the blade wears out.

ah yes, I found this out afterwards that the wide strip only happens on the X and P series when using the smooth PEI plate, and some others, when using Bambi Slicer; on other plates like the textured PEI plate, bambu slicer and orca lay down a single strip on the front and a large L shape at the back right corner. someone uploaded a tiny version of this to the print profiles that works great for those smaller strips and is insanely cute because it’s tiny. lol.

A1 Mini, 0.2mm layer, 3 walls, 15% gyroid infill
Printed well. I'm glad you published the print profile because the orientation was not obvious! It works very well - the design seems simple but it's quite ingenious, with the angle of the handle vs. scraper blade just right. Printed in ELEGOO black PLA on PET sheet. I should try it in PETG once the blade wears out.
