I modeled this ship in preparation for my Space Pirates RPG campaign.

Lore

The Skimmer is a corvette-class ship model constructed by the Starfire Ship Building Co. (SSBC). Its speed, agility, and robustness makes it a favorite among pirates, explorers, and couriers. While initially designed as a scout ship, the hardy hull and compliment of weapons quickly made it popular for exploring the more dangerous parts of the galaxy. A good pilot in a skimmer can get out of trouble almost as quickly as they can get into it.

Printing

I included two files for printing:

• A separated file - this prints easily and assembles nicely with a little glue and relatively painless support removal. I did my best to put seams along the major lines of the ship, so it still looks nice after assembly, especially after a little paint.
• A complete file - this might have a little trouble painting and removing supports can be a pain, but it looks quite nice afterwards. I suggest printing it on its landing gear and using tree supports.

I printed both versions in PLA on a P1S and they both look great.

Remixes & Commercial Use

If you'd like to create a single remixed “module” for the separated file (like a modified cockpit), and publish that, that is allowed as long as you link back to this original model for people to download the other parts. You can even do this commercially.

I'm also open to the sharing of adaptations of the full file, but I didn't want to put a blanket "allow" on it, as I want to ensure any shared adaptations are significantly different and bring additional value to the design (not something small like adding an extra antenna or something). Feel free to ask, if you feel a your remix adds value and is significantly different. Of course, remixes and adaptations are fine if it's just for personal use.

If you'd like to sell prints of this, please contact me with an offer to work something out, but please do not sell prints / the model for a profit without my permission (asking a buddy to refund you for the cost of printing is fine, though).

If you'd like to commercially sell an artistically painted version of this print, you may do so as long as the buyer is paying you for your time as an artist. You may also use printed versions of this model in other commercial ventures not related to selling the model itself, such as films, photographs, art, etc..
