Description

If, like me, you have ever had the soundboard of your acoustic guitar crack due to excessively dry ambient air, then you know how important it is to control the humidity.

Using this model is very simple, just take a look at the pictures.

All you have to do is cut out a piece of sponge, insert it into the model, and add a little water.

I don't need to loosen the strings to insert the template inside the guitar, but if you want to be on the safe side, you can slightly loosen the strings.

Regarding the hygrometer, I bought it on AliExpress but you can fin dit also on Amazon:

Preventing Your Guitar from Deteriorating

The Importance of Humidity Control

It is essential to monitor the humidity level of the environment where your guitar is stored. Excessive humidity (above 60%) or too low humidity (below 40%) can, over time, cause your instrument to deteriorate.

Consequences of Inadequate Humidity:

  • The wood can warp and the neck can twist.
  • The bridge can come off.
  • The varnish can crack.
  • The strings can oxidize more quickly.
  • The sound of your guitar can be altered.

The Hygrometer: An Essential Tool

A hygrometer, whether electronic or mechanical, will allow you to measure the humidity level and take the necessary steps to preserve the integrity of your instrument.

The Humidifier: A Solution to Counteract Dry Air

If the air is too dry, a humidifier can be used to increase the humidity level.

Tips for Keeping Your Guitar in Good Condition:

  • Store your guitar in a hard case when not in use. This will protect it from shocks, dust, and humidity changes.
  • Place your guitar in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
