Description

This is a work in progress (like all my models really).

** UPDATE 2024-03-29 - I've added another print plate with two objects on it

  1. The first object is a little frame that you can slide one of the larger cards into. Let's be honest, the cards are a little flimsy, and depending on some aspect of humidity that I don't understand, your cards may be slightly warped (or look like a pringles chip). Mine are just warped enough that the tokens tend to slide around, so I made this little frame to keep the card flat. It's tight. It's almost definitely rubbing the sides of the card, and will almost definitely eat them up over time. If you're worried about that, buy some sleeves instead.
  2. The second object (inside the frame on the plate) is a little insert that fits inside of the small card tray to help organize a little bit. I realized after a few sessions that I hated having to figure out which cards in my stack were monsters, and which were the ability cards. I may print one in each color to match the character cards if I feel ambitious, but for now I just wanted to be able to quickly grab the whole stack of monsters.

These are both totally optional. Print em if you want em!

** END UPDATE **

I'm really enjoying Gloomhaven Buttons and Bugs, but the organization of the game components out of the box is not the best, and I immediately realized I was going to need some sort of organization, so I immediately started designing an insert.

From my perspective, there doesn't seem to be a scenario where you're pulling things in and out of the box, so I designed this insert with the idea that everything would be well organized and easy to see, and that when you're ready to play you're essentially dumping out the trays that you're using.

The top tray contains the most common tokens, dice, status markers and dials (along with all of the minis which I wanted to be standing upright and not just bouncing around everywhere). I find that I hold my hand over the minis and dump everything else out to start a play session.

The middle tray contains all of the action cards and the monster cards. These seem to be things that I pull out less frequently, so I mostly just pull out the cards I need and put the rest back in the trays.

The bottom insert tray is the scenario cards and the attack modifier trays, which I pull out once per play session.

Everything fits just snugly enough that you can put all of the box contents in there (including the Getting Started guide), and it closes flush, but you can still pull out the different inserts without issue.

Great organizer and quick print. I appreciate the thought that went into how things were organized from most used to least used. I also love the hex pattern on the bottom which is a nice nod to how the scenario maps are designed. Well done!
