Description

There's a new sheriff in town, and he doesn't like messy freezers... Introducing the"Freezer Jail"!

This was my attempt to bring order to the chaos of my chest freezer. I looked around for freezer organizers but they are crazy expensive, and it's just a simple divider. Though not cheap, the materials cost me $29 plus the cost of the PETG and screws (and that includes $6 for some optional silicone feet). I can also expand it further with additional panels.

Please keep this away from Children and Pets (this is only meant to be used as a freezer organizer).

I used the following parts:

*3/4 x 36" square dowel rods (5 pack)

*Go Create 3/8" Round Wooden Dowels, 10ct (qty3)

*Large Clear Bumpers Pads 9PCS 31.2mm Rubber Clear Glass Bumpers Round Bumpers for Glass Top Cutting Board (qty 1) - Optional

*I also used a number of #8 x 3/4" stainless steel wood screws similar to these

This is very much a DIY project though, since every fridge is different.

There are several types of corners and variations of each type:

  • The 2-way corners have ports for the 3/8" dowels on both sides and the1-way corners come in a "LEFT" and "RIGHT" versions. If you need to have the spacer tight to a wall of the frigde then I'd use the 1-way corners.
  • There are also 2 types of bases. One with a space for a round 31.2mm clear bumper which I used as a foot for the base (W-PAD). There is also a plain one (NO-PAD). There are3 types of the holders for the 3/8" dowels which hold the pickets:

*There is a one sided (1-way)

*The two sided (2-way) holder is:

*There is also a special "1-way" holder which has a round cutout to be used with the "BASE-W-PAD" corners which have the clear bumpers (this allows the holder to sit tight to the base).

I built the panels with pinned corners except for one side (no reason), but feel that pinning the corners is not needed. It should not be necessary to drill any holes (other than pre-drilling for screws). The screws seemed to be fine to hold the panels together.

Notes:

Couple tips if you make this, try printing one of the smaller post holders and test it to be sure it will fit on the round and square dowels. If it does not, try calibrating the flow / k value.

I also printed the holders rotated at a 45 degree angle (see the pics), with supports. PETG can be tricky so you may want to run an overhang test cube and get the temps right. Using the fan can also help with overhangs, but be careful that it does not compromise the strength.
