This is based off of Robert Cowan's Modular Filament Drawer System. I only have an A1 mini but loved the idea of this drawer system so I built it from scratch in Fusion. This is my first attempt and a large documented print so please fofgive any errors.
I have also attached my Fusion file to this document. If you modify it please send me a copy.
Thanks
This system uses:
To start with you will need to print 8 of the corner pieces. They are all identical, you make them unique by adding heat set inserts where needed as well as rail supports, dovetail splines or blanks.
Add dovetail rail supports to the corner pieces that have heat set inserts on the inside of the corner. The rail supports are there to help align the screws and inserts as well as additional support for the weight of the filament.
Screw 2 of the corner pieces together to make the bottom half of the rail system using the 4 corners that have heat set inserts on the inside. The 4 inserts in a horizontal row are for the front and the 2 with vertical inserts are for the back.
Screw 2 sets of the corner pieces together that have no iserts on the inside, these are for the top of the unit.
Screw the rails into the front set of corner pieces, as well as the back.
Screw a top set of corner pieces to the bottom set.
Use dovetail splines to connect 2 sets of drawers together.
You will only use 3 of the 4 holes in the rail support, if they are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 than for 3 of them you will insert threads in 1, 2, 4 and on the other 3 you will use 1, 3, 4.
The cross brace is to maintain stability between the rails.
Screw the rail support onto the rail and use a wood screw to screw into the rail itself.
Screw the front and rear spool holders onto the rail using the wood screws.
