Description

Summary

This is a mount/holder for a TalentCell Rechargeable 12V 3000mAh Lithium-ion Battery Pack (Model YB1203000-USB).

I created it as a means to externally mount the battery on the outside back of a HasLab Ghostbusters Proton Pack, as this is a very common power source for that pack and the many mods that are often done to it. But it can of course be used to mount the TalentCell anywhere on a flat surface. But many Gb folks were simply using Velcro or double-sided tape to mount the battery, so I thought I’d try something a bit more structured and protective of the battery.

It screws to the pack (with whatever screws or bolts you feel appropriate— holes can simply be drilled larger depending on what size screw/bolt used), and the TalentCell slides in. The sides at the top opening flex just a little bit to let the battery in, and then click into place to keep it locked in. The bottom has a cutout to push it back out when you want to remove the battery. Tolerances are very tight, and it holds the battery very securely, and the overall thickness of the holder helps protect it. There's also a cutout so you can see the charge level LEDs.

I printed mine in basic PLA on my Bambu X-1C. I'm still playing with what orientation and types of supports make for the best, smoothest print. Some of the best results came from printing it upright, using tree-style supports. Printing it upright definitely “smoothed out” the sharper edges (such as the lip around the top or the wings for the screws), and printing it face up or face down horizontally produced much sharper edges, but generally rougher surfaces. I did notice that when printing it upright, the cutouts on the front tend to look a bit jaggy (sorta like pixelated) due to the slight angles combined with the layer height at which you're printing-- so the smaller the layer height, the better when printing upright. But test out what works best for your printer setup, and please let me know in the comments!

Looks cool, Ron! Good advice on the angle too! I printed the original several ways, and am still looking for the best, strongest configuration. Also, I actually have a similar one that I designed specifically for the larger battery pack. I'll share it here soon!
