This year, I wanted to create something special for Easter. It uses overhanging bridges (printed on the side) to create the illusion of a three-dimensional easter egg suspended by fragile strings.
This model prints without supports in about 5 hours, 0.2mm layer height and wall generator set to Arachne in Bambu Studio. I also activated “Thick bridges” and “Detect Thin Walls” in the slice settings.
I used Bambu PLA basic Sakura Pink and Basic White, which did a great job for the many thin string overhangs (next time I would take colors which have more contrast though, e.g. white and green).
For those who do not own an AMS, I also added a single color print profile, where the strings are the same color as the shell and egg color.
This technique is not new, my model is inspired by the “Suspended Hand” by STomHacks (https://www.printables.com/model/573397-suspended-hand).
