Description

Couch coaster for two drinks in a modular design. There are two bases, one has a fin that can be wedged between the seat cushions and the other has a flat bottom. The modules can be screwed in. The model name “Screw Base” is a blank module for own customization. Sadly I can only upload STL/3MF files as the personal license from fusion doesn't allow to export STEP files.

Print Instrudctions:

  • Use a fine layer height to get better threads. 0.2mm worked for me but 0.15mm was smoother.
  • The base with the fin has long bridges because it needs to print upside down. Putting a few support pillars worked fine for me and are easily removable afterwards. In the provided print profile you can see how I did the manual supports. Supporting the whole bridge can cause trouble removing the supports because you can't reach it very good.
  • The base with the fin has to be printed upside down. Because of the resulting bridge you need to prepare the modules a little bit different: Lower the modules a little bit into the build plate to make up for the rougher surface produced by the bridging. You have to try it out yourself but for me worked 0.7mm to get the openings on the side. Without that, they would sit at an angle of around 45°.
  • When you want to put hot cups into the modules consider using proper filament and adjust the print settings acordingly if you use the provided print profile. I used PCTG and PETG. Both worked fine. The base can be printed in PLA, but don't choose silk or matte PLA for the finned base, as they usualy have bad layer adhesion wich would result in a fragile fin.
