How do you get the rubber Banned into the correct place it’s kind of confusing and I don’t know how if I could get any help that would be really appreciated

Just tie a knot then loop in to number 1 and 2 shown in this picture.
Then loop in to the same hole as number 1 but the opposite side and tie a knot again.
