Description

Summary

A sliding window camera cover for the OnePlus 6 that is held in place by the phone's case (the official case that comes with the phone), so you don't have to glue it to the phone.

Print Settings

A GCODE file for the Creality Ender 3 ready for print is included

Print all 3 STL files:

  • Cover.stl
  • Rail-bottom.stl
  • Rail-top.stl

It is important to change the line height to 0.1 since this is a very thin print and every layer counts.

In addition, in order to successfully print this, I tinkered with the slicing settings and ended up with the following custom settings:

  • Initial Layer Speed: 10 mm/s (important)
  • Initial Layer Flow: 120% (might have made a difference)
  • Flow: 120% (might have made a difference)
  • Printing Temperature: 205C (might have made a difference)

A friendly tip: When the print is done, don't remove the parts off of the printer's bed before letting it cool off a bit. The parts are very thin and might get deformed in the process.

If they did get deformed while removing them from the printer's bed, you might be able to fix them using a hair-blower.

How To Assemble

  1. Clean up any imperfections in the print
  2. Using a thin layer of super-glue, glue Rail-top on top of Rail-bottom. This must be done precisely & quickly.
  3. Insert the cover into the rail, the side with the bump first, by gently lifting the edge of Rail-top that hovers above the spacing in Rail-bottom
  4. The cover should slide in the rail almost freely.
    • If it's too difficult to move, you need to sand down it's sides using a file.
    • If it's too loose, the cover will slide open when you pull your phone out of your pocket.

You can always print another cover if you over-sand it the first time!

How I Designed This

I designed this camera cover using Fusion 360.

The source .f3d file is included.

I'm quite new to CAD so any feedback is more than welcome!
