A 3D topographical map of the British Isles (UK & Ireland) - in jisgaw form!
Approx 1:5000000 scale, with height differences scaled x8. Inspired by Add-on tiles for Continental Europe Topographic Relief Puzzle by DerSchweizermaker - Thingiverse, but I worked from the original LIDAR data from OpenTopography - ALOS World 3D - 30m. Jigsaw pieces divisions are completely random and just based on what I thought looked good.
I've painted the model for AMS printing in 4 colours to represent the different contour heights. I think the model also looks great in 2 colours (sea and land) which you can easily do by setting AMS slots 2, 3 & 4 to the same colour/slot. I've added a “frame” to the base which I think looks good printed in a different colour but you can have it same colour as the base if you want.
Print profile has 4 print plates - splitting the parts in different combinations to make it easier for you to break down the print into multiple phases - I'd recommend doing so as it's a lot of parts and if one fails its hard to know which piece is which (it's a jigsaw afterall)
Main Model pictured printed in basic PLA using:
Print profile works well - scaled to fit on print plate and good level of detail. Feel free to scale to your preference - currently jigsaw pieces are scaled 1% smaller than the base to give tolerance, if you shrink the model you may need to increase that difference to ensure pieces still fit together
Hope you like it :) As always feedback welcome.
