This board and set came to me as a challenge for myself. Thing is, I just wanted my own version.
A few recommendations:
- You'll need 96 magnets (6x3mm size). They're pretty common to find on online stores.
- Be concentrated when placing the magnets. 96 are a lot, don't invert some.
- Don't forget to put one white tile at H1 (or one black tile at A1).
- When placing tile, you need to firmly push the tile against the board.
- If you ever make a mistake with a tile (like forgetting a magnet under it), you still can remove it. But the connectors will probably break. You still can print a new one, but you'll need a bit of accuracy to remove the broken connectors from the board (note that in the end, this part of the board will remain hidden, so you might damage it a bit, it's fine).
- For the pieces, if printed at 0.16mm layer height like I did, you'll need to make a break at layer 24 to insert the 6x3 magnets.
- For the yellow strip on the pieces, I made a break at layer 12 to swap colors. At first, there was only one color, but the strip offers a nice touch and it helps distinguish a black piece over a black tile a bit better.
EDIT: finally found that some spool box are perfect as storage
