Description

A fun and decorative snail and slug trap I made for my garden. It is designed to easily screw onto a standard size mason or ball jar. I made the mushroom top in a way that it provides overhang and helps prevent too much water from getting into the trap. I've always loved the fairy garden look and thought this would be a quirky addition to my garden. This goal is once the mason jar has been buried it looks like nothing more than a garden decoration.

I used some cheap beer in the jar and personally found success. I found mine worked best between taller zucchini plants. This allowed me to print this in pla as it helped keep it out of the sun for the most part. It has held up surprisingly well, but if you plan to place it anywhere in direct sunlight I would suggest using another type of filament.

Jar lid and body don't align properly due to some warping. Otherwise great print.

A nice design. I look forward to using this for pest prevention once the growing season starts. I've used similar deigns with success in the past but they were not as cute as this. I chose shades of brown to have it blend better in the garden but still look nice. Scaled to 102% to fit jars better. The one with the dark brown chimney is shown with supports in the doors and windows. The one with the light brown chimney doesn't have any supports. The model I uploaded has a brim on the chimney and house plus supports to door frames. The door frame prints without supports but looks better with supports. Brims on the chimney and house are crucial for successful printing. I couldn't remove the stringing in the jar lid for printing but it can easily be removed after printing. Let everything cool before removing from the plate. Everything indexes into place without glue but you can use glue if desired.
