My gf asked me to make her a mail holder that “wasn't ugly like the ones on amazon”. She really likes sanrio characters so I made her one based off Kuromi, but somehow she ended up using it as a napkin holder instead.
Printing
The model was printed in PLA using a BambuLab X1C with an AMS to manage the 3 colors. The colors used were:
Polyterra Cotton White
Inland Black
Cookiecad Pale Pink
swatch samples of the colors used
Printed with:
BambuLabs Cold Plate that came with the printer
Glue Stick: Yes (if cold plate)
Support: Not needed
Walls: 2
Brims: No
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Layer Height: 0.2mm
Infill: 10% Gyroid
Top/Bottom Shell Layers: 5
This was to prevent the black infill from showing through and ensure that the top/bottom surfaces printed final finish was smooth, as I only used a 10% infill. I guess you only really need 5 layers on the bottom though, the top can go back to the default of 3
Print order: outer/inner/infill - Since this is a mostly flat piece with no overhangs, I printed it outer first to give it the best dimensional accuracy with least variations on the outer surface
Time: 2h 52m
Assembly
Print all the parts, then press-fit the connector into the slots on the 2 faces
Tips
Printing the faces with the multi-colored part faceing the plate like the 3mf file comes with is recommended, as it gives you a smoother finish for the face
The connector should press-fit into the faces, but if you want some extra security, you can add some super glue into the holes before pressing them in
