Description

I created this Thumper prop from images and clips I found online so it's not an exact replica but I believe it is pretty close. There is currently no functionality in this model but I am working on a motorized version that will hopefully be able to actuate just like they do in the movie.

All parts were printed in PLA using 0.2mm layer height and 10% infill to cut down on printing time but you should be able to use whatever material and settings you like. Minimal supports are required for the holes in the top and bottom piece as well as the upper overhang on the pump. The model is designed to be glued together however, I designed the middle part to be held in by the pump without glue so it can be rotated like in the film.

There are two versions of the spike: one where it is fully extended for placing the ground and another where the spike is retracted for carrying the thumper around. Only one version of the spike needs to be printed depending on what you need the prop for. The retracted spike is one part and the extended spike is two parts that need to be glued together like the rest of the model.

I reduced the size and printed it out on my A1mini.

That’s an alternative spike where it’s retracted instead the thumper.

Replying to @ethan_dw9 :
hmm anyway we could just make the other spike hollow and fit them.both in so it just telescopes like the other mechanical thumper model u can add a motor to? that other one has a spike that slides down

This is incredible, thank you. Really love this model. I'll be making a few. My only suggestion, on the full extension spike a longer pin where they join would be very helpful.

33% scale is nice BUT I need to find how to keep it from falling out while allowing it to retain nice free up and down movement... altho maybe scale down top part tiny bit to make it more snug so it doesn't fall out for now...or maybe use some sort of magnet I guess right? the inner part of the tube stick part needs to be filled and have spot to glue the magnet and I can add a hole inside the big part for second magnet, then it can have a nice magnetic stick to it very easily

necklace mode rocks, I'll add the optional printed loop (merged 3D letter U moved to that big piece will turn this into a keychain) maybe I'll even add a solid printed piece that still moved up and down but is printed all in one piece
