Description

This model allows you to mount sat navs to the center console of many VW cars,
The Dash pictured is a mk7 Golf but it is used in many different VW cars.
If the hazard symbol / air vent arrangement looks the same as your car then it will fit.

This seemed like the perfect place to mount the phone but there isn't anywhere good to attach one in cars with this dash.
So i've designed this one which grips the lip at the sides of the air vents
and then locks in place with a dovetail.

How to use
the two sides have hooks that grip the rim on the edge of the hazard symbol,
There is a cut out so that you can still reach the button with the dock in place,
hold the two halfs in place then slot the 3rd piece on top, start high so the dove tail can get into place and then slide down and it will lock it all together, slide it down until the edges match and it will have a tight grip and be very solid.
To get the dock off, simply slide the center section up and it will release.
once in place you obviously use the ball to attach an existing phone dock, or print one.

Print instructions
0.2 layer height
Mine is printed in PLA and has been very strong. PLA can suffer in a hot car but i'm hoping this design holds the existing bodywork so closely it can take the heat, otherwise i will re-print in ABS
you might notice a seemingly pointless hole going into the ball from the back, this tricks the slicer into making that part stronger and should accept a toothpick if you want to glue one in but that shouldn't be necessary.
