reprinting in petg right out of a fresh bag and then I have some PLA+ I till try. I’ll let you know how it works out. the first print is super nice, it’s just a tad to small and maybe it’s time I upgrade the drying fan to prevent any possible shrinkage.
I wanted to ask what part of the country/world you are in. I remember in some places cans might be a different diameter. Mine are 66mm diameter and the hole in the can mugger is 66.5mm which usually makes a snug but not tight fit. You may want to try 100.5% scale.
Something didn't go right, the area under the handle warped.
Rest is perfect, except that I can't get the can out - I may try scaling the model out a little bit. 🤣
Thanks, I'm all new to the various terms.
Heat creep might be possibly because I kept the door closed and the stream of air from the fan didn't get to that area as it was covered by the main body of the mugger.
Totally I get it but still dont really understand it. Tried to rotate a bit and prusaslicer has a new feature that dynamically slows down on overhangs seems to help
I made one with slightly damp filament and the swelling was just enough to cause that to happen. If theres any nubs on the inside you can try to scrape them off. Thanks for trying it out!
love the design. but only only flaw. with the lid up it is rather hard to take a drink unless you take your beverage out every time. works great to keep bugs/pests out but not functional entirely.
I changed the rating to 5 stars. purely for the fact I love the design and you being able to take feedback.
what software did you use to make the design?
I keep printing these over and over again because my kids keep gifting them to people like teachers and camp counselors. Everyone loves them.
Question - Do you have a version of the model that is more rounded on the outside? Like the original STEP files imported into the 3MF model? I think that when things get convert to STL they can get more polygon like. I hope that made sense.
And if it isn't obvious I, and my kids, love this model. They feel grown up drinking from their soda cans as well.
I don't have your skill set to do that. :-)
I hope you didn't take my comment negatively, it was just a thought. I really do appreciate your efforts and you sharing selflessly with the community. Thank you for helping me put a smile on so many faces.
FYI The two dark green and the very last pic with the sprint can in it are BL Translucent PETG if anyone was curious.
Great for camping and going to the lake! I printed 2, one fast (pictured messy filament), one regular and both had the same issues. PETG was used both times.
Only reasons for 4 stars:
This tab broke both times during assembly. I'll make it slightly wider or just make a screw and hole through to be on a hinge.
Thumb Tab doesn't pull the lid back far enough. Still usable, just an obstacle to work around.
Super tight fit for regular cans. if it has a plastic/paper label, it won't fit.
Clear pteg, it printed well. But, I used support inside the handle... Didn't seem like it would print well without... But can you? ...why does this model advertise no support? ...just curious
