Description

This model based on jellyfish has four main parts. The main head, the arms (8x ), beholder for the arms, and the stand. I used PLA, but any material would work as long as you have the right settings. I highly recommend using a flexible bed as this will make removal of the arms extremely easy. The joint in the arms can be fragile so I would recommend using a smaller nozzle though you can get away just fine with a 0.6 mm nozzle. A flexible bed will make removal of the arms from the bed without breaking the arms as easy as possible. To attach the arms to the arm acceptor piece, put the arm inside ways so that the top and bottom (referred to as orientation while printing) are facing the sides. Then twisted so that the desired side (the top) is facing towards you. The top ball and socket will not have any movement but it will be sturdy and the rest of the links (except for last one) will move. There are two versions of the arm acceptor piece. One with no hole that connects directly to the head and does not connect to the stand and a second version with a hole that connects to the stand. Make sure to print the correct one. To assemble, place down your stand, then place your acceptor peace and head on the stand. Finally attached the arms. If printing without the stand, attach the arm acceptor piece to the head and then attach the arms in the same manner. I recommend printing the head the way it is oriented in the model, at the supports are supporting the portion of the head that will be placed on to the stand. Since this part is not visible, the quality of the print surface in that section does not matter and this will allow for the surface of the rest of the print to be as high quality as possible. The stand should also be printed as oriented. I hope you like this model and if you enjoyed it please post a make and let me know if you have any feedback. Thank you and happy printing!
