Description

Check out my Beach Essentials for Kids

My son really loves to play in the sand (what kid doesn't?). Currently, he always plays construction worker and makes concrete (from sand and water) with which he wants to build bridges/tunnels and so on. The Sandy Fun Kit (created by NikolaosBabetas) is the perfect base for this and I have designed some items with which my son can be a true construction worker. And to be true to the original idea, they all fit together just as they did in the original Sandy Fun Kit.

New/changed items:

  • Trowel: after all, every construction worker must also be able to smooth his concrete. Supports required for the handle.
  • Scoop maker: Sometimes it just needs to be a little rounder, or sometimes for the ice cream in between.
  • Bridge builder bucket: inspired by Sand Castle, I remixed the bucket so that i can also be used to build bridges/tunnels. Works perfectly if the sand is fine enough, we have built countless during our last vacation ;)
  • Duplo brick mold: A true construction worker builds with Duplo bricks...from sand. btw: fits under the rake.
  • Sieve: additional items, new bucket shape → new sieve needed.
  • Handle: The original handle always fell off and the other remix does not print optimally (at least for me). In addition, the tools are all a little higher because the bucket has a thicker bottom for its handle. Therefore, I have designed a longer handle, which is clicked in and thus holds better. This can be printed easily without supports.

After two weeks of vacation on the beach there is the following conclusion: only the upper thin walls of the bucket are partially broken, otherwise everything has survived the "construction work". I will remix a few more parts when I have some time and then update the STLs here.

this is by far the best thing I’ve printed for my kids. holds up extremely well and is very efficient with use of space. my daughters love it! thank you! The Lego brick doesn’t work particularly well, but helps with alignment

Thank you very much for your nice feedback. I'm glad your kids like it! Yeah the brick is bit small if the sand is not fine enough. Btw. I'm working on a new set with new tools and a lot of improvements.

thank you. the hardest part is getting the sand out of the block. maybe a vent or something on the top would help reduce the suction.

As said, worked on a new set. No more brick mould but two bigger moulds instead, which can also be replaced by other ones. New watering can with improved handles, smaller bucket, redesigned all tools and replaced the trowel with a usable sieve. Due to further suggestions I will also improve the cover and will redesign it as a usable scraper. https://makerworld.com/en/models/484484

Hi, First of all, thanks for this stuff, amazing that I can print toys myself :) I have this Issue on the bucket 2 times in a row, maybe someone have an idea what I can change?

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! For the second picture it looks like an overhang issue. Multiple options to improve: - reduce print temperature - reduce layer hight - increase fan speed - reduce print speed For the first picture I have no clue what happend, looks really strange. There are also some wavelike artefacts.

thanks for your help, I will give it a try. about Print Speed I thought that it will allready be adjusted during overhang prints, but Im going to put it a bit lower too. My aux fan is off during high prints, maybe it will help to turn it on again. General there is no Support needed right?

Aux fan might help. Print speed will be reduced for overhangs, but depending on the filament (settings) it might still be too fast. Overhang quality is always a mixture of different factor. And yes, no supports are required for the watering can.

This is not 100% even if it looks like it in the picture. The bucket has a thicker base as there is a handle on the bottom.

Wonderful, thank you so much! BTW. Printed on A1 mini without problems, just needed to rotate the bigger bucket. I also decreased infill to 15-20% depending on part. No issues with strength.
