First of all, this project is a remix of an original creation, thanks to its author: https://www.printables.com/fr/model/460737-spiderman-lamp

 

In the original design, there was an E14 socket holder to install a bulb. I left it in, but I don't recommend this solution. The bulb is too close to the sides of the lamp, and there are risks with heating. You should use materials that can withstand high temperatures, preferably electrical grade with flame retardant, but these filaments are expensive and don't come in many colors.

 

That's why I don't use bulbs, but 12V LEDs wound circularly in the ring, which diffuses and produces a beautiful light. It doesn't heat up much, it's low voltage and doesn't present the risks of a 110/220V bulb.

 

This lamp is a good idea for kids, but I didn't like some of the details, so I've come up with this remix.
The front panel was too thick for the light to pass through, so I reduced it from 1mm to 0.6mm.
The eyes were superimposed on the background and the light couldn't get through, which was a shame. So I added a cutout to the red background to integrate very thin eyes (0.4 mm) to let more light through and give the impression that the eyes are brighter.
Finally, the structure of the spider's web was added to create contrast.

The front panel is made up of 3 gluing parts (bottom, eyes and web). This design choice enables monochromatic printing without the need for AMS.

Then, you can just clip your assembly to the front of the lamp for easy disassembly, or glue it in place if you prefer to access the inside of the lamp by removing the rear panel (more difficult because of the LEDs glued inside).

This design has also been thought out so that all visible faces are those in contact with the printing plate, to obtain, for example, an attractive textured finish without default if you use a PEI plate.

With RGB LEDs, the result is superb. Some colors don't penetrate the red layer and only illuminate the eyes. With all the possible color combinations, there are very different results, some of which are really cool.
