Hello everyone! I'm thrilled to share my latest interactive model: the Pixelated Sphere Puzzle.
Introduction
I designed this model as an entry for the BONBON Capsules Design Contest, hosted by @Pipin.World. As the core challenge of this competition is to create a miniature surprise that fits perfectly inside a 2.7-inch BONBON capsule. The puzzle consists of 10 interlocking pieces that assemble into spherical block.
Printing Tips
Because of the complex overhangs required for the interlocking mechanism, this model does require supports. Here is how to get the absolute best results:
- Material: I got good results printing this with Bambu PLA Basic and Bambu PLA Matte.
- Support Filament (Highly Recommended): For the cleanest possible overhangs and seamless interlocking, we strongly advise using a dedicated support filament for the interface layer.
- Standard Support Settings: If you are not using a support filament, please ensure you use the advanced supports setting in the print profile (set to default), but make absolutely sure to leave the Initial Layer Expansion at 0. This is crucial for maintaining the precise tolerances needed for the pieces to fit together.
Conclusion
This puzzle is a fantastic little project that really tests the precision of your printer while resulting in a fun, highly giftable object. If you print one, let me know how long it takes you to solve it!
