I designed this magnetic spinner from scratch after seeing the viral "Cat Eye" nail polish effect online. It features a manual spinning mechanism to create dynamic magnetic patterns on cat-eye gel polish.
🌟 FULLY TESTED & UPDATED! Thanks to amazing community feedback, this design is fully proven to work and now includes multiple print profiles to fit whatever magnets you have at home:
- Universal 5mm & 6mm Cylinder (Through-hole): Perfect for the long cylindrical magnets that usually come included with cat-eye polishes. The through-hole design allows magnets of any length to fit flawlessly.
- Standard Round Magnets: The original profile for two 9x1.5mm neodymium magnets.
💡 Pro-Tip for the best Cat-Eye Effect: Do not spin it too fast! Place your finger inside, hold the spinner close to the wet polish, and spin the top part slowly. This gives the magnetic particles enough time to react to the changing polarity, creating a beautiful star or aura pattern. Cure immediately after!
Recommended Print Settings:
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Walls/Perimeters: 3
- Infill: 15% (Gyroid)
- Supports: No supports needed!
- Print time & material: ~45 minutes / 18g of PLA.
Assembly:
- Insert two 9x1.5mm (or less) neodymium magnets into the circular slots.
- Snap the spinner onto the base.
- Place your finger inside, spin the top part over the wet cat-eye gel, and cure!
