🌟 The Backstory & Inspiration
This project started because I wanted to upcycle my daughter's used notebook pages. By compiling the clean, recycled sheets of paper and printing a flat 170mm x 215mm x 2mm board, I created the perfect, sturdy backing pad for her to write on comfortably anywhere.
🛠️ Fully Customizable Features
You can tweak the following parameters to generate your perfect STL:
- Width & Length: Scale it up to your printer's maximum bed size or down to a pocket-sized card.
- Thickness: Keep it thin (2mm) for a flexible, lightweight sheet, or thicken it up for a rigid, heavy-duty board.
- Corner Radius: Round off the four corners to your liking to ensure there are no sharp edges, making it safe for kids' backpacks. or set it to “0” if you want a sharp corners.
💡 Awesome Project Idea: The 2-in-1 Portable Slate
Want to take this print to the next level? Here is a quick DIY project you can do right after printing:
- Print the flat board at your desired size (e.g., 170mm x 215mm x 2mm).
- Side A: Peel and stick a self-adhesive Whiteboard Sheet onto one side. Perfect for dry-erase whiteboard pens!
- Side B: Peel and stick a self-adhesive Blackboard/Chalkboard Sheet onto the reverse side. Perfect for traditional chalk!
This gives you a lightweight, indestructible, dual-sided portable drawing board that kids (and adults) will love.
🖨️ Recommended Print Settings
- Material: PLA (Standard or Tough) works great. PETG is excellent if you want more flexibility and heat resistance.
- Infill: 100% (Since it's thin, solid infill ensures maximum rigidity and flatness for writing). but print profile used 15% infill
- Bed Adhesion: A clean build plate is key to preventing the corners from lifting. Use a brim if your bed adhesion isn't perfect.
- Top/Bottom Pattern: Monotonic or Concentric for a super smooth finish before applying adhesive sheets. Print profile used is different.
- Brim ears or Outer Brim: so the print won't lift off the bed plate
- Infill: 3d honeycomb for strength
