Description

This conceptual architectural model, "Porta del Giardino", originates from a university design project created by some friends. I collaborated with them to completely re-engineer, optimize, and enhance the model specifically for 3D printing, ensuring perfect tolerances and a smooth printing experience without the need for complex support structures.

 

Modular & Optimized Design To simplify the printing process and enable a clean multi-color look without requiring continuous filament changes, the entire structure has been split into independent parts. All components are sized to comfortably fit standard 256x256 mm print beds.

 

Smart Functionality (NFC Integration) & Showcase To significantly increase the presentation value of the project, I integrated a dedicated hidden space to embed a small NFC tag. Tapping a smartphone against the physical model automatically opens a fast showcase website I built specifically for this purpose (you can view the live demo here: https://goodness-mind-010168.framer.app/). The site features high-quality renderings and print time-lapses I produced, perfectly bridging the physical prototype with a digital portfolio.

 

File Options & Scaling The ready-to-print project file (.3mf) is already arranged on the build plates and scaled down to 20% of the original CAD dimensions, which is the optimal size tested for desktop display. I have also uploaded the raw, unscaled STL files. If you wish to print the concept at a different scale, you can import these into your slicer. Note: altering the scale of the original STLs will also change the dimensions of the structural joints and the dedicated NFC slot.
