Description
ESPHome Air Sensor and Bluetooth Proxy - Low Power < 1.5W
What can the sensor do
- Monitor all important air parameters
- Calculate AQI (Air quality index)*
- Graphically display all readings
- Integrate Bluetooth smart home thermostats and sensors into Home Assistant via the proxy
*The AQI calculation is at my own discretion, but is largely based on EU limits and guidelines and is rather conservative
What is it for
Most of our time is spent indoors, where air pollution is 2-5 times higher than outdoors https://www.iqair.com/de/newsroom/how-does-outdoor-air-pollution-affect-my-indoor-air-quality Especially artists, Makers, and craftspeople are exposed to a variety of air pollutants without noticing it Here's a small selection of activities for which I built this sensor
- 3D printing (FDM, Resin, SLS, etc)
- Soldering
- Sawing & Milling
- Painting & Finishing
This was the reason I wanted to monitor my air The only problem: Which platform currently on the market allows complete monitoring of ambient air, is simultaneously super flexible and open to sensors/products from other manufacturers, does not upload any information to a cloud, and is ultimately still affordable and repairable I didn't find any, so I had to do it myself This project emerged from that, which has been running great for me for half a year now and has significantly improved my indoor air
I used a large part of the code from uELKO, but also changed and adapted some things, and with the introduction of the SEN6x sensor in ESPHome, removed the external components from the code https://github.com/uELKO/ESPHome-Air-Quality-Monitor
Alternative for the SEN66 → SEN63C-SIN-T (Slightly less accurate CO2 measurement, no VOC & NOx) - Thanks for the awesome deals on mydealz from @daniel_wil and @Sprutonator, as well as the community that inspired me to publish this project :)
