Description

The Monster Within

1. Concept & Lore

When the Breach tore open the sky, it did more than release horrors from another realm—it gave form to something humanity had unknowingly created itself.

No one knows what first emerged from the Breach. Some claim it was born from the fears that consumed the ruined city, while others believe it came from something far more dangerous: humanity's endless hunger for more.

More strength. More speed. More power.

Every ambition, every sleepless night, every reckless push beyond mortal limits left its mark upon the world. When the Breach tore open the sky, those marks were drawn together and given form.

Many know the creature as The Original Monster, the living embodiment of humanity's endless pursuit of energy, strength, and power. Others know it only as The Monster Within.

Now, the Monster Within roams the ruins without purpose, without reason, and without rest. Drawn to those who refuse to yield, its presence grows stronger wherever mortals push themselves beyond their limits.

Some believe it is proof that humanity was never meant to possess such power. Others whisper that when mankind sought to unleash the beast within themselves, the Breach listened.

2. Printing Information

The model is provided as a No-AMS print and has been designed to preserve the sharp armour, horns, cloak, and surface details while remaining practical to print.

The default size is approximately 127 mm tall with a 73 × 50 mm footprint. If you'd like to use it for tabletop gaming, simply scale the model down to your preferred size (such as 28–32 mm).

Support Removal Tips

  • The arms are the most delicate part of the model, so take extra care when removing supports around them.
  • For the supports trapped behind the cloak, I found it easiest to gently separate them with a small flat-head screwdriver before pulling them out from the bottom.
  • Taking a little extra time during cleanup helps preserve the finer details.

3. Painting Ideas

The included model represents the Mango Loco Monster, finished in its iconic blue and gold colour scheme.

For my own prints, I start with a blue spray-painted base coat before hand-painting the gold details and highlights.

I used to paint different versions inspired by the Monster drinks I'd had, displaying each one beside or sometimes on top of the matching can as a small trophy. Unfortunately, I accidentally threw most of them away together with the empty cans during a cleanup, so now I'm slowly rebuilding the collection.

Of course, that's just my way of doing it.

Paint it however you like. Whether you recreate your favourite Monster-inspired colour scheme, invent your own palette, or weather it into an ancient relic from the Breach, I'd love to see your interpretation.

4. Display

Whether displayed on a shelf, beside your Monster collection, or simply as a standalone display piece, The Monster Within is designed to command attention from every angle.

As an engineering student, and someone who drinks far more Monster than I probably should, this project was a fun way to combine character design, 3D modelling, and FDM-friendly engineering into something inspired by a brand I've enjoyed for years.

If you print and paint your own version, be sure to upload a make. I'd genuinely love to see everyone's different interpretations of The Monster Within.
