Description

Makita DRV150 140J44-9 - FRONT HOUSING.

RIGHT TO REPAIR.

Got myself a broken Makita DRV150 and since it was looking brand new from outside i was wondering what was broken inside in it. Took it apart and noticed that the front housing case was cracked. Tool was most likely dropped on the floor. Browsed around the internet for spare and found it from couple places for >60USD + shipping, so i thought i could try to draw the case and make the tool work just for the experience of 3D modeling.

Plastic print most likely will not last for long, but i printed a part out of Polymaker Polymide CoPa (Nylon). Material with carbon fiber in it would most likely be better. Other option would be metal sintering filament or external service that does metal 3D printing (Checked website from way of PCB and estimated price for Aluminium 3D print would have been ~80USD. Not sponsored)

Optionally print part normal infill and do lost PLA casting.

I tried to look for where in the clamshell i can strenghten the part, as there are some very thin places in the original design.

If Nylon printed lasts longer than single test i will report back with the results.

Uploaded 3mf and f3d with settings and ease of editing. 3mf also has quite optimal angle for print with least amount of supports while being close to flat on the side (to maximize strenght in horizontal axis).

5 wall loops and 75% infill.

(White part in photos is plain old pla that was used just for fitment test)
