Educational manipulatives and custom building blocks are great tools for schools and parents. While this basic geometric generator is freely available, joining my Commercial Membership for only âŹ4.99/mo gives you full commercial rights to sell physical prints of this model, AND unlocks commercial rights to ALL my other premium generators!
âď¸ Customizer features:
- 13 classic volumes: Instantly render a cube, cuboid, cylinder, sphere, cone, truncated cone, torus, triangular prism, hexagonal prism, square pyramid, triangular pyramid, capsule, or ellipsoid.
- Mass batch generation: Select All Shapes Grid from the dropdown to instantly generate a perfectly spaced classroom layout of all 13 shapes on your build plate at once!
- Make it hollow: Enable Make_Hollow and specify a wall thickness. This automatically hollows out the top of the shape, turning it into an open cup or container. This is perfect for teaching volume in math class by filling them with water or sand!
- Infinite sizing: Enter your exact X, Y, and Z dimensions to stretch and scale the shapes dynamically.
đ§ Behind the design (For makers & moderators)
To provide the absolute fastest rendering performance, this model uses dynamic parameter mapping. Instead of importing separate complex meshes, the algorithm manipulates the core OpenSCAD primitive functions.
For example, prisms and pyramids are mathematically generated by taking a standard cylinder and dynamically overriding its face resolution ($fn) to 3, 4, or 6, instantly turning it into a sharp geometric solid. The Make_Hollow function utilizes a smart boolean difference, dynamically duplicating the chosen shape, shrinking it precisely by the user-defined wall thickness, and subtracting it from the original solid exactly at the top plane.
đ¨ď¸ Print settings:
- Material: PLA is perfect for educational blocks.
- Layer height: 0.20mm works beautifully. If you are printing the sphere or ellipsoid, 0.16mm will make the top curves much smoother.
- Supports: Mostly none. However, if you print the sphere or torus, adding standard snug supports under the bottom overhang is highly recommended to prevent print failure.
- Infill: 10% to 15% (Lightning or Gyroid) is plenty for solid shapes.
