Robo-hare

Robot Hare is a character from the 14th episode of the animated series Well, Just You Wait! (Nu, pogodi!). He is a mechanical hare created by the Hare at a Young Technicians' House.

Plot

The Hare turns on the robot and notices that its leg is a bit stuck. While the Hare runs off to get lubricating oil, the Wolf enters the hall and touches the robot on the shoulder — it turns back on.

The Wolf asks: "Hare?" — and the robot confirms. Upon hearing the reply "And I'm the Wolf," the robot begins endlessly repeating the phrase "Hare-Wolf," pointing at itself and at the Wolf.

Enraged, the Wolf strikes the robot with a hammer in a fit of anger. This causes a malfunction: the robot's personality and appearance change drastically — now its goal is to teach the Wolf a lesson. A new chase begins.

Dodging the "impulses" fired by the Robot Hare, the Wolf falls from a great height and eventually ends up in a space-themed hall. There he hides in a spaceship, but the robot finds him, puts on a protective visor, and cuts open the door with a welding torch.

The Wolf tries to trick the robot, but it doesn't fall for the deception. In the end, the Robot Hare grabs the Wolf and is about to leave the hall when the Hare runs in. He presses the button just in time to shut down the malfunctioning mechanism.

Appearance

In its original model, the Robot Hare looks like the Hare: it wears a light-green T-shirt and dark-green shorts. The robot is grey, with a similarly good-natured face, and instead of ears and a tail, it has yellow light bulbs. There is a red on/off button on its shoulder.

After being hit with the hammer, the robot changes appearance dramatically: all its forms become angular, and its blue eyes are replaced by two "visors" — one red and one yellow.

The aggressive version of the robot could change its height thanks to extendable limbs, had a built-in welding torch, and some kind of ray weapon. Interestingly, after the "transformation," the red on/off button appeared on its stomach, not on its shoulder.

Notable Features

The image of the Robot Hare stuck with many viewers. Some Soviet children and international viewers noted that this character scared them as kids, and some even said it appeared in their nightmares. At the same time, the show's creators aimed not just to create a frightening image, but one that was memorable and ambiguous.
