Description

Boost Me (for free)

A boost is always welcome, if you really like this model.

This is a ONE-PIECE full color stained-glass styled tribute to the United States of America's 250th year since the Declaration of Independence.    I couldn't get 50 stars on the flag to print easily, so I opted to use the early 13-star version as a tribute to the start of the nation.

Unlike most of my other stained-glass styled models that are in two parts, this model is printed as a single part, while maintaining the full color results of earlier models.  This is possible using features of the Color Drop plugin of HueForge.  Unlike many HueForge models, it is not possible to rely on swapping filaments after their use (except for maybe the white base), because this model uses more than one color per layer, therefore requiring two AMS units.  Note that the base color is a slightly less transparent white with a TD value around 18, rather than a more common very high TD transparent filament.  A higher TD transparent will work, but the white parts of the flag might look a bit less “white”.

As with all such models, substitution of filaments can be made with similar colors and TD values.  The model assumes PETG filaments, but PLA filaments can be used, if it is assured that the model will not be subjected to direct sunlight.  PLA models have been known to warp in direct sun.

The 3mf provided is for use in Bambu Studio.  Raw files can be used for other printers using the additional information provided below.

Swap Instructions:
You do not set Layer Swaps in the slicer.  Instead, each color is a separate STL file.
The file is named with the piece (Base or Nest) and filament color.
Load all STLs for one piece at once — your slicer will ask if it is a multi-part model. Select yes.
Assign filaments by color name in the slicer's Object view.
Print everything together. No assembly required after printing.

Color Drop Printing Instructions:
This model has been split into 3 nested pieces.
Each piece is split by color for color-by-object printing.
    Original height: 2.80 mm
    Tallest piece: 1.76 mm
    Height saved: 1.04 mm
    Nest at Overture_White (layer 5 → layer 0)
    Nest at Overture_White (layer 2 → layer 0)
