Description
Rotating Rings
We use these rings to keep cloth shopping bags together, to attach trolley coins, or collect hair ties.
We use the default 30mm radius (included 3mf), but you can use the configurator to change the size.
We tested as small as 10mm radius and as large as 45mm.
The smaller ones make good fidget toys.
How strong are they ?
We hung a bucket using one of the 30mm rings and got to 15kg.
We then realised we made a mistake in our method as we were testing only the strongest direction.
We devised a new test where we put some lateral strain as well and managed to break a ring at around 10kg - we would recommed no more than 8kg.
Given our experiments we have also made a new design which is stronger - manged the 15kg even under bad load directions. We will add it as an 3mf for the 30mm radius - you cannot press fit the stronger version.
Printing:
We used PLA+ but PLA should work fine.
Make sure flat side is on the bed.
Assemble once fully cooled.
The sliding action will free up a bit with use.
Assembly:
There are 2 ways to assemble:
Line up and press the 2 sides together.
OR Line up the gap press down gently and rotate to link together.
